What We Build

Our Work

From precision-engineered robots to award-winning engineering notebooks, every season we push the boundaries of what a high school program can achieve.

Robot Design & Build

Every robot we build starts with a design process grounded in the VEX engineering design cycle. Our teams iterate through CAD modeling, prototyping, and rigorous testing before a robot ever hits the competition field.

We use VEX V5 hardware combined with custom-fabricated metal components. Our build leads develop mechanisms that prioritize reliability under match conditions — because a robot that fails in competition is a robot that didn't get tested enough.

Autonomous & Driver Control

Autonomous

Precision Autonomous Routines

Our programming leads write autonomous code using odometry, PID controllers, and motion profiling to achieve consistent, high-scoring autonomous periods.

Driver Control

Refined Driver Control

Control schemes are tuned in close collaboration between programmers and drive team members to ensure the robot responds predictably under match pressure.

Tools

VEX C++ & Python

We program using VEXcode Pro and custom C++ libraries. Some teams also experiment with Python-based control scripts for rapid prototyping.

Engineering Notebooks

Engineering Notebook

Our engineering notebooks document every decision — from initial sketches to post-competition retrospectives. They are judged at every tournament and have earned our teams multiple Excellence Awards.

We treat the notebook as a living document that reflects our team's thinking process, not just a writeup of what we did. Judges notice the difference.

Outreach & Education

Outreach

STEM Demonstrations

We bring our robots to local schools and community events to inspire the next generation of engineers and demonstrate what JROTC cadets can achieve.

Mentorship

Peer Mentoring

Senior members mentor newer cadets throughout the season. Knowledge transfers freely between teams — a rising tide lifts all boats.

Leadership

NJROTC Integration

Our program runs within the Navy JROTC unit at Troy High School. Leadership development, discipline, and service are woven into everything we do.
